ABC announced Wednesday, Oct. 22, that it has ordered a Shark Tank spinoff show, Beyond the Tank, which follows the show's previous entrepreneurs after their Shark Tank debut.

The reality competition has been on the air since August 2009. The show showcases aspiring entrepreneurs who make business presentations and proposals to potential investors, called "sharks."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Beyond the Tank will follow the entrepreneurs to see if their products have flourished or flopped in the market.

Shark Tank airs on ABC Fridays. On Sept. 26, it'll celebrate its 100th episode and return for its sixth season. The show racks in 7.2 million total viewers among the 18-49 demographic.

The "Sharks" include Mark Cuban, a businessman and investor, as well as the owner of NBA's Dallas Mavericks, the "Queen of QVC" Lori Greiner and Kevin O'Leary, Daymond John and Robert Herjavec.

The show's panelists have invested $12.4 million in the businesses presented to them throughout five seasons, which the sharks also gain traction for while it's being publicized on air.

"Most venture capital firms are jam-packed with MBAs who do analysis on deals. They've never run a business," explained Cuban in Entrepreneur magazine. "We have lots of cash, we've all come from different sectors, we've all run businesses. There are no other firms like that."

With that in mind, the investors have also taken part in the success of the businesspeople, so it'll be interesting to see what has come of the show's participants.

A premiere date has yet to be set for Beyond the Tank.
