Halloween comes early for the gang of American Horror Story: Freak Show. This two-part episode titled "Edward Mordrake" takes place during the afternoon of Halloween and the first half of Halloween night. However, don't expect your favorite freaks to take the stage on All Hallow's Eve as they are cautious not to summon the spirit of Edward Mordrake.

As Ethel Darling explains to the sideshow commodities, there is a superstition in the carnie world that should a freak perform on Halloween, he or she will summon the spirit of Mordrake.

The 19th century aristocrat, known for having two faces was said to have gone crazy when the face on the back of his head whispered for him to do bad things. He was taken to the asylum where he proceeded to go mad, and eventually escaped. After killing a guard on his way out of the mental institution, Mordrake joined a freak show, hoping to find some solace. Being around similar people, couldn't take his minds off the whispers, and he hung him, but not before killing everyone in the freak show.

Ethel says that during her other job at a rival freak show, after they were forced to perform on Halloween, something was stirred up at their camp and one of the freaks ended up dead in the morning.

Ethel, having problems with her stomach decides to go see a doctor, only to find out that she is suffering from cirrhosis of the liver. The doctor gives her 6 months to a year to live. Even though the doctor gives her pretty devastating news she can't help but thank him for treating her with kindness.

Before leaving, the doctor gives her a warning that should she even have a sip of alcohol that her life expectancy will be reduced even more. However, it doesn't look like she cares, as she takes to sipping alcohol for the rest of the episode.

Also during this episode, Emma Roberts' character of Esmeralda is introduced. However, when we first see her during the museum scene, we can't help but think that she looks like Velma from Scooby-Doo.

She goes to a special collector with her boss trying to pass off a faux Sasquatch to the museum. However, when the collector spots it as a fraud she tells them that she is looking for some interesting specimen to keep her business alive. She tells them that freak shows led to big business back in the day, and a liver of a conjoined twin was sold to them for $5,000.

If a liver of a conjoined twin goes for that much, we can only imagine how much they would pay for Bette and Dot.

Trying to get some cash, Esmerelda's boss makes her go to Elsa Mar's freak show under the impression that she is looking for a job as a fortune-teller. She gives Elsa a pretty spot on reading after doing some research around her room. She tells the leader of the circus exactly what she wants to hear and even aces the performance by fainting at the end.

However, after securing the position, it doesn't look like Esmeralda wants to be there, saying that the freaks are everywhere. After a not so warm welcome from Dot and Bette, the spiritualist really thinks she wants out.

And what would a Halloween episode be without some trick-or-treating and Halloween parties. Besties Dandy and Twisty are separated this episode as the serial killing clown takes to a cookie cutter town to go after a girl who is truly afraid of clowns. He later on breaks into her house and kidnaps her brother, most likely to bring him back to his broken down bus of terror.

The Mott's party looks like it going to be off the hook, and we are loving Patti Labelle's impersonation of Woody Woodpecker. However, when Labelle gives Dandy his Howdie Doodie Halloween costume, he couldn't be more upset with it. After throwing a tantrum he runs upstairs to create a replica of Twisty's clown suit to wear instead.

During this episode Dot turns downright cruel as she not only has a dream about separating herself surgically from her sister, but she also plans on performing on Halloween despite Ethel's warning.

However, after hearing Esmeralda's prediction, Elsa Mars throws the two headed sisters off the stage and takes the microphone herself. Surely enough Mars summons the spirit of Edward Mordrake but we can't be mad at her after that beautiful rendition of Lana Del Rey's song "Gods & Monsters."

Mordrake, looking to claim a victim, goes to Ethel, but after she reveals her hurtful past, Mordrake decides to move on to someone else. We are thinking he's going to claim Dell after Ethel revealed her tortured past with him, even explaining that when she was pregnant with his child Jimmy, that Dell held a birthing party and charged people to watch her give birth to their son, who they were sure would be a freak.

At the end of the episode, Dandy goes to the torture bus and is reunited with Twisty, and viewers are sadly greeted with a "To Be Continued..."

Tune in next week for an all-new episode of American Horror Story to see how the end of Halloween goes for the freaks.
