Kenny Chesney's Brothers of the Sun Tour broke the record for most country concert tickets sold in the New York/New Jersey area on Saturday at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ. The country music blowout sold 56,285 tickets.

Chesney previously broke the 29-year-old record last summer with his Goin' Coastal Tour. That show sold a whopping 55,239 tickets. The record was formerly held by country superstars Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Merle Haggard, and Linda Ronstadt, who drew a tri-state area crowd of over 51,000 back in 1983.

Prior to Chesney's performance on Saturday, fellow country crooner Tim McGraw hit the stage for a 90-minute set. Before kicking in to the song "Back When," McGraw announced to the crowd, "We're about to get straight up country on you're a## right now."

Chesney kept the tri-state crowd up on their feet all night long, busting out popular tunes including "Summertime," "Beer in Mexico," "Reality," and his current hit "Come Over."

"One thing I learned about people who love country music is there's a lot of commonality," Chesney shouted to the crowd. "I do believe that music and song are the most powerful things we have in our life."

The Brothers of the Sun Tour is set to hit Detroit on Saturday, August 18 and then will travel up to Massachusetts for two shows the following weekend.
