Who didn't love the 2005 hit film Hitch? Starring Will Smith alongside Kevin James and Eva Mendes, it seems safe to say the film has stayed in our minds for quite some time. If that weren't true, FOX wouldn't be interested in turning it into a television series. Additionally, Smith wouldn't be trying to do the same! Well, according to Laughspin, it's happening!

For those of you in a bubble, Hitch followed Alex Hitchens (Smith), a dating consultant, as he helped a client (James) find the lady of his dreams, Allegra Cole (Amber Valletta). Amid doing so, a gossip reporter (Mendes), who has an eye for Cole's life-happenings, ends up falling for Smith.

To jog your memory, check out the trailer for Hitch below.

CNN reports that the network currently has a script commitment in place. As of this reporting, the television show is being pitched as a "workplace comedy that explores dating and sexual politics."

Smith will of course exec produce the project. To that, he'll bring along wife Jada Pinkett Smith – who now stars in FOX's Gotham – to the executive producer's chair. Additionally, James Lassiter, Caleeb Pinkett, Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont will also produce.

Hitch, the series, will be penned by Can't Hardly Wait and Surviving Christmas writers Kaplan and Elfont. The question of who will play Hitch is still up in the air.

Is Smith heading back to television? It's a long stretch from Fresh Prince of Bel Air, but fans can hope!
