Us loyal Game of Thrones fans have been waiting for George R.R. Martin to complete the sixth book in his A Song of Ice and Fire series for what feels like forever. While we have been thinking that the famous novelist has a serious case of writers block, Martin explained that this is far from the case. He instead reveals that his newfound fame has become a huge distraction in his work.

The writer spoke at the Santa Fe Independent Film Festival and according to IndieWire, he revealed to the audience members that what is really holding him back are all the distractions of his now busy life.

"Writer's block isn't to blame here, it's distraction," Martin explained. "In recent years, all of the work I've been doing creates problems because it creates distraction. Because the books and the show are so popular I have interview to do constantly. I have travel plans constantly. It's like suddenly I get invited to travel to South Africa or Dubai, and who's passing up a free trip to Dubai?"

Well, while we don't want to hold him back from taking a nice relaxing trip to Dubai, we do want to be a little selfish here, just because we can't wait to hear what happens to all our favorite characters from Westeros.

While some might think that George could simply write in his hotel rooms or on an airplane, he reveals that this isn't how he works.

"I don't write when I travel," the author explained. "I don't write in hotel rooms. I don't write on airplanes. I really have to be in my own house undisturbed to write. Through most of my life nobody did bother me, but now everyone bothers me every day. I have assistants and minions whose main job is to make sure people don't bother me so I can actually get writing done."

We think that one of these assistants' needs to schedule out the next few months so that George can devote himself to nothing but writing.
