Ever since Kesha announced that she was recording new music with The Flaming Lips last year, her fans were so excited for the project. But when it was mysteriously put on hold and then never released, no one knew what to think of it. Wayne Coyne, the front man for the band, is now speaking out and setting the record straight on what caused the music to be shelved. In an interview with Idolator, the rocker opened up about his time working with the pop princess, their relationship and the awesome music that would have been Lip$ha and how Dr. Luke was involved.

"The stuff that we did together was just spectacular," the rock star explained. "It made us want to do more. I think we did like four or fives songs, and then Kesha would remind me, 'Wayne, I can't put this music out, Dr. Luke will kill me.'"

The Flaming Lips star is speaking about Kesha's relationship with her producer Dr. Luke, who the "Die Young" star doesn't think would approve of her partnership with the rock band.

"I don't know Dr. Luke at all, but when we [Kesha and I] speak, I know there's some anxiety about their relationship," Wayne explained. "I think she would like to have to freedom to do more things in that spirit. Where it's not — again, I don't know their situation — but where it's not producers producing her. She could produce herself, that's probably where she is wanting to happen with her own career."

Wayne also talked about her becoming like fellow pop star Miley Cyrus in that aspect.

"I love Kesha, she's great. Miley is a lot more of her own entity," the rocker explained. "I think the success of Hannah Montana has allowed her to be the king of her own destiny. And I think Kesha will get to that eventually. She doesn't have that sort of power now, but I think she will eventually."
