Mindy Kaling: writer, actress ... Noble Peace Prize winner? Well, that's what an old man thought when he stopped The Mindy Project actress at a nightclub recently. The star spoke to Time magazine during The New Yorker Festival, where she explained that someone mistook her for 17-year-old Malala Yousafzai.

Kaling was clubbing at the Boom Boom Room in New York City when an older man approached her, congratulating her on the award and asking about her surviving being shot. Education activist Malala has been making headlines recently after receiving the prestigious award and being named one of Time's Most Influential Teens of 2014. It seems her popularity is overshadowing that of Kaling's.

The man at the club approached Mindy, saying, "Congratulations on your Noble Prize," before addressing her admiration on surviving being shot.

The teen was shot almost two years ago by a member of the Taliban while she was on her way to school.

Did he really think I'm Malala? Mindy asked herself, before saying, "That's the best thing that's happened all night."

She also questioned why the man would think Malala would be at the Boom Boom Room.

Kaling said that at the time that she was Malala's age, she wasn't worried about things like receiving a Noble Peace Prize but rather on 17-year-old things, like getting into college.

"I was, like, stressing out about getting into college like a nerd," the star told New York magazine.

Maybe this mistake could lead to a guest spot for Malala on Mindy's popular Fox series. We know we'd love to see that.
