Louis Van Gaal went toe-to-toe with the man he helped early in his football management career, Jose Mourinho, and the game was an exciting one. A Didier Drogba goal looked to give Chelsea a vital 3 points over Manchester United, but a Branislav Ivanovic red card and a last-second Robin Van Persie strike ensured that Jose would be one unhappy man, blaming their Premier League draw on the referee and Ivanovic's red card for the defeat.

Mourinho hit out at the referee, saying, "The penalty that Ivanovic should have been given [after wrestling with Smalling], the accumulation of yellow cards, the throw-ins. I know I speak always with my heart and get in trouble. My team played a fantastic game, it's not easy to play here against Manchester United, a Manchester United that tried to play very compact and hit us on the counter attack.

"We were fantastic, especially in the second half. It was a top-class performance, good control, we could score a couple more goals. The result is not the one we wanted, we came to win, but the performance is fantastic. The result, not so, but acceptable."

Mourinho concluded, saying, "I am so happy with his performance, my team is good and it's very difficult to speak about [individual] players."

Is he right to blame the match events for the poor result, or were Manchester United just that good, organized and hungry for the point they earned? United will look to build on their vital point, especially with tough Top-4 opponents to come.
