It's not often the Premier League, football and the MLB are compared with one another, but within the span of a couple days, it's safe to say they've never been closer. South Africa goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa and St. Louis Cardinals prospect Oscar Taveras have both lost their lives, and with the pair in their 20s, it's safe to say the sporting world has been left devastated by these utter tragedies. While the sports continue, they're just hoping to find some closure on the matter, but during that, both sports will stop and remember two talented sportsmen who lost their lives before they'd really begun.

The South African keeper played for the Orlando Pirates, but he had been linked with an EPL move in the near future. The 27-year-old keeper was shot in Johannesburg, and he was pronounced dead at the hospital. The local police account revealed "two suspects went into the house and one remained outside" while the Pirates added: "This is a sad loss to Senzo's family, especially his children, to Orlando Pirates and the nation."

If that wasn't enough, the Cardinals's top prospect, Taveras, and his girlfriend were killed in a car accident Sunday, Oct. 26, which left the entire MLB in mourning during a time in which they were supposed to be celebrating the World Series.

Teammate Pat Neshek insisted: "Last 30 minutes I've been sick to my stomach. Keep thinking about Oscar's big smile in the dugout whenever we made a big play/got a big hit. Oscar was the last teammate I saw in St. L. I joked with him since our apartments were next to each other about how he could fit nearly 12 dozen bats in his car."

This sporting duo will be missed, and there's no doubt with their love of their sports they'd want the games to keep on coming. Rest in peace.
