Patricia Field is a native New Yorker and one of fashion's greatest visionaries. She is also an Academy Award nominated, Emmy Award winning costume designer for film and television, best known for changing the way women dress through television hit shows like Sex and the City and Ugly Betty.

Field is a true pioneer who has brought a new and unique style of dress to American women and has stimulated an entire fashion movement throughout the world. The costume designer and stylist, sat down with Style.com to discuss her boutique, her favorite costumes and going incognito.

Field and her team at her New York store on Bowery have created costume options that cater to all your alter ego fantasies, from Beyonce to Miley Cyrus to Rihanna. Her pop-star-themed Halloween collection also includes Katy Perry and Angelina Jolie-inspired looks.

"When it comes to Halloween, our customers are ready to spend whatever in order to be fabulous; they are not so interested in some packaged thing." The Halloween offerings in her store right now include an $800 studded and spiked custom breastplate, a $300 bride of Frankenstein wig, and a $450 sequin bodysuit.

"One of my favorite costumes I've ever worn started with a hat that I picked up in Germany. It's a little pointy. I think it's Bavarian, but I saw it as a wizard hat, and the whole look was very true to me and I owned it," said Field.

But if you aren't looking to be yourself this Halloween, Field encourages going incognito. "Start with that general premise of wanting no one to know who you are. It's very freeing and a chance to step into another dimension and be whoever you want, just as long as it's not Mickey Mouse," she said. "People have a need to escape and to free themselves."
