Despite all of the talk surrounding the upcoming Ben Affleck, Zack Snyder-led Batman v. Superman film, the Warner Bros. team is now turning their attention towards a serious matter... but still keeping with the "bat" theme, of course. In the below PSA, Affleck and Snyder can be seen educating viewers on the importance of saving ... you guessed it ... bats.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the group teamed up with the Organization for Bat Conservation for "National Save the Bats Week."

The actor kicked off the video with, "...I want to talk to you about one of my favorite species of animals... the bat." Now we're not sure if Affleck's favorite species is actually the bat or if he's trying to churn up some Batman v. Superman press, but throughout the next five or so minutes, he and director Zack Snyder take us introduce us to some educational facts about bats.

As the Gone Girl star notes, "Essentially, these bats are on the verge of completely dying out. Not only would we lose an extraordinary species, the death of our bats would be catastrophic to our ecosystem."

Afterwards, Snyder discusses White Nose Fungus, which is a leading cause of death in bats, saying, "There was just this little blurb in the news I saw about bats getting this thing called white nose fungus. I think we all just take for granted and think bats are going to be fine. But as we started doing the research, we actually found that the bats are in dire straits actually."

"As a movie that benefits from the bats," he adds, "we thought we're going to build these bat habitats as a way to raise awareness... and just generally let's learn about bats and how they benefit, because they're real important."
