MStars News has learned that Ashanti is telling all in a new interview with Hot 97. The singer is apparently talking all the blame for her failed relationship with rapper Nelly.

According to Sister 2 Sister, the Early In The Morning singer admitted that she had some trust issues when her relationship with Nelly was new. During her time as a Murder Inc. employee Ashanti knew the behind scenes of how rappers would act while on tour, and the groupies they would keep. Ashanti claims that she was unsure about Nelly's intentions, even when he claimed to be pursuing her seriously.

“As a woman, when a man is out doing their thing, a woman is not taking everything so serious, even though the guy might be like, ‘I’m serious,’” Ashanti said.

“He was very, very genuine and very, very sincere. I will give him that. From the start, I was leery,” she added.

Ashanti, claims that she had some resentment and insecurity while dating Nelly, often times keeping her relationship status with the rapper very low key.

“A lot of that was me. I’m very, ‘I don’t like to have my stuff on blast,’” she claims.

Now, Nelly is currently dating Floyd Mayweather's ex, Shantel Jackson, and gearing up to co-star with his new love in a BET reality show, premiering in November. Ashanti has been rumored to be dating someone as well, but his name remains a mystery. According to the site, her mystery man lives in Dubai.

As to what led Nelly and Ashanti to breakup, Ashanti claims it's more than what fans think.

“That whole situation… If people were to know the truth, the truth is more bizarre than the perception… The truth of me and him is way more bizarre than what the perception is,” Ashanti explained.

Ashanti was too late when she wanted to become serious with Nelly, and says that she has no regrets.

“We both genuinely gave a lot to each other. Sometimes relationships run their course,” Ashanti said.
