Fans want to know, who will play Christian Grey in the highly anticipated film adaptation of the bestselling book "Fifty Shades of Grey?" Ryan Gosling, Jessie Pavelka, Channing Tatum, Ian Somerhalder, Mark Wright, William Levy? No definite answers yet, but let's throw "Step Up Revolution" star Ryan Guzman and "White Collar" actor Matt Bomer into the mix just for kicks.

"Fifty Shades of Grey," an erotic novel written by bestselling author E.L. James, follows the story of Anastasia Steele as she enters into a dominant/submissive sexual relationship with sexy billionaire Christian Grey. The "Fifty Shades of Grey" series has sold over 40 million copies worldwide, and Universal Pictures/Focus Features are set to bring the erotic trilogy to the big screen with producers Mike De Luca and Dana Brunetti.

In an interview with The Daily Fig, Guzman said this about wanting to play the role of Christian Grey:

"I know it's a little risqué, but I'm starting to get into Fifty Shades of Grey. I'm going to start reading that one next because I'm kinda thinking I might like to go out for this Christian Grey role."

Guzman, 24, recently made his acting debut in the 3D film "Step Up Revolution." He went on to say, "People wanna see this movie be made so I definitely want to attach my name to it if I can."

Matt Bomer's pining for the hotly sought-after role has been intensified by "American Psycho" screenplay writer Bret Easton Ellis, who tweeted on Aug. 8:

@BretEastonEllis: "Okay I'll say it. Matt Bomer isn't right for Christian Grey because he is openly gay. He's great for other roles but this is too big a game."

(Ellis, who had wanted to write the screenplay for "50 Shades of Grey," admitted on Aug. 7 through Twitter that he had not been chosen for the position.)

Following Ellis' controversial tweet, Bomer's supporters immediately fired back, prompting Ellis to continue tweeting about the issue:

@BretEastonEllis: "I am NOT discriminating Matt Bomer because of his sexuality. Fifty Shades of Grey demands an actor that is genuinely into women. Get it?!?... I think Matt Bomer is incredibly handsome and a good actor but I think he comes off totally gay in White Collar. And that is why no to CG [Christian Grey]..."

In February 32-year-old Bomer, who has appeared in a number of television series including "White Collar," "Guiding Light," and "Chuck," went public with his relationship to publicist Simon Halls. They have three sons via surrogacy, including a set of twins.

Ellis' comments have done nothing more than to fuel Bomer's chances of snagging the role of Grey, now that he has become a new fan favorite, especially in the world of Twitter.

Looks like "Fifty Shades of Grey" producers still have some options to sort through before casting the hot and steamy roles of Grey and Steele.
