If you're a fan of the Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon then you're well aware of the fact that the host loves his games. Because of that, we weren't too surprised to see him play "Water War" with Nightcrawler star Jake Gyllenhaal during last night's episode. What did surprise us? How much water was actually involved!

As Fallon noted, the game is pretty much the classis card game War. However, "if you lose the hand you get a pint of water in the face." Armed with five glasses of water each, the person who empties all of their cups first wins. Oh, and they get to drench the loser with the water cannon. "Lots of ways to get wet but only one way to win," claimed the host.

And so it began... Check out the "Water War" video below:

In the beginning, it looked as if Gyllenhaal was having a tough time "getting into character," as Fallon said. Luckily, the man is a professional, quickly getting on his game face and bringing the A game. Unfortunately, however, the actor was the first one to get wet... with a pitcher of water to the face! (Only because the very first hand was a war...)

What went down next was nearly seven minutes of wet ... hilarious ... dirty-humored ... war! Best part? We've got some screengrabs of the segment's best moments:

In the end, who was the victor? Jake Gyllenhaal!

The actor stopped by the Tonight Show to promote his newest film Nightcrawler, in which he plays Lou Bloom, a man who unearths a love for underground LA crime journalism.

Check out a RED BAND trailer for the film below [NSFW]:
