'Banksy Does New York' Documentary Features HBO GO With Sneak Peek Trailer! [WATCH]

Going its official premiere, HBO Go is offering viewers a chance to see how Banksy transformed the entire city of the Big Apple into his own lively canvas for 30 days. HBO Documentary Films has released a new trailer for Bansky Does New York, which captures street art culture at its highest peak.

On Oct. 1, 2013, the elusive English street artist known as Banksy launched a self proclaimed month-long residency to New York City. During his stay, the political activist /painter would post one unique exhibit a day in an unannounced location. This art demonstration sparked a 31-day scavenger hunt that reached viral networks and on the streets.

As we previously mentioned, the popular street artist became the subject of Chris Moukarbel's new documentary. Moukarbel reportedly crowd-sourced the footage being used in the documentary. The project is more about the reaction to the artist and his work rather than the focus on person himself.

Shelia Nevens, president of HBO documentaries, adds, "From the moment Banksy took over the streets, New Yorkers became obsessed. The film captures this month of madness created by user-generated footage."

Part of the footage is comprised of social media reactions, which is provides a different perspective on how art is distributed, observed, and discussed. Art lovers were using Twitter hashtags and posting on Facebook, Instagram, and Vine after catching just a fleeting glimpse at Banksy's work.

In an interview with the New York Post, Moukarbel states, "I would say 75 percent of the film is user-generated content from the Internet. We shot some interviews and some verite-type footage...What people will see is really a snapshot...of what the Internet looked like covering the Banksy phenomenon in October 2013. There were all these portals to the Web creating massive archives."
