Now that the Batman prequel, Gotham, is currently underway on Fox, a major super villain will be making his way from the DC Comics Universe to the television screen. The partnership between Jim Gordon (Ben McKenzie) and Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue) faces a new threat from Doctor Jonathan Crane, aka The Scarecrow.

In our previous recap, Gordon (McKenzie) was ordered by Carmine Falcone to assassinate Oswald Copplepot (Lord Taylor). Although Bulllock (Logue) was watching, Gordon managed to fake Oswald's death. As the season progressed, Bullock was under the assumption Oswald was dead and Gordon was willing the play along with Carmine and Fish Mooney (Jada Pinkett-Smith).

From our latest recap, after Oswald showed up alive and well at the precinct, Bullock realized Gordon was lying to him the entire time. Though they settled their differences, trouble still looms with mob boss Carmine Falcone and his real protege, Oswald Copplepot (Robin Taylor). With Gordon's life in their hands, Oswald promises the good cop will join their side.

According to Zap2it, at a panel during Stan Lee's Comikaze, executive producer Danny Cannon revealed his writers are currently working on an episode that will introduce Scarecrow.

Cannon reveals, "We're breaking the story now. On Gotham, the villain will be seen as a child, before he takes on the Scarecrow moniker. In fact, it's something that will be passed on to him from his father, which will create an eventual enemy for Batman, while still having a possible adversary for Jim Gordon."

Screenrant theorizes that the Scarecrow episode will happen after the ninth episode, in one of the six extra episodes.

In the comics, before Tim Drake donned the boy wonder costume, he overhears Scarecrow's origin story, in the '90's Batman #457. Fascinated with fear, Dr. Crane pulled out a gun in front of his students during their psychology class and shot up the classroom.

We cannot wait to find out who will play Scarecrow and what origin story the show will follow.

Gotham continues on Fox, Mondays at 8pm. Readers, are you excited to see the Scarecrow?
