Cinemax's 'Outcast' Casting: Patrick Fugit Joins Adam Wingard, Philip Glenister In Robert Kirkman's New Series!

After terrifying the minds of comic book fans and TV viewers with The Walking Dead, creator Robert Kirkman continues the scares with his latest Cinemax horror/exorcism drama. Actor Patrick Fugit joins cast-mate Philip Glenister and filmmaker Adam Wingard for the upcoming series, Outcast.

From Skybound, an imprint of Image Comics, the new horror series features demons as the opposing force of nature. In the best-selling first issue, Kyle Barnes had been plagued by demonic possession all his life. Now that he is desperate for answers, his investigation will unexpectedly cause the end of the world. We previously mentioned the comic book adaption was announced during the previous San Diego Comic-Con.

The Walking Dead scribe made the SDCC announcement on his official Twitter account,"Big news Comic Con! Demons are the new Zombies! #outcast pilot into pre-production by Cinemax!"

According to Deadline, the Gone Girl actor will star as the lead role of Kyle Barnes. The Life On Mars actor will play Reverend Anderson, a hard drinking and gambling West Virginian evangelical preacher, who believes he is a soldier in God's holy war against evil.

Child actor Gabriel Bateman has been cast as 8-year-old Joshua Austin. Living across from another town, the young boy who appears to be possessed by a demon and has a mysterious connection to Kyle.

IGN also reports director Wingard has signed on to direct the pilot, which will be penned by Kirkman himself. Variety raves about his recent thriller, The Guest, as a "giddily violent treat for genre fans." This marks the director's first first foray into television after directing feature films.
