Aaron Sorkin's political drama, The Newsroom, returns on HBO for Season 3. For its final season, anchor Will MacAvoy (Jeff Daniels) is back to cover the breaking news on camera, while planning a wedding with MacKenzie McHale (Emily Mortimer) and seeing his team, including Sloan (Olivia Munn), fall apart in 'Boston.'

With the wedding coming up, Will MacAvoy and MacKenzie McHale (Mortimer) are counting the number of bridesmaids. Unfortunately, their plans are interrupted by a breaking news story. There has been a domestic terrorist attack at the Boston Marathon.

Understaffed and with half the crew on vacation, Will has to go up live on camera and has to report on the Boston Marathon bombing. Learning from their previous mistakes, Mac won't report on the bombing so soon without double-checking her sources. Though Maggie (Alison Pill) is trying to redeem herself, Mac and Jim (John Gallagher Jr.) are hesitant about sending her to Boston with Elliot Hirsch (David Harbour).

The manhunt for the Boston bomber takes its toll of the ACN news crew. After days of no news, CNN is the first to report the apprehension of the bomber, but unfortunately their sources are wrong. Charlie (Sam Waterston) is ashamed of his news team for cheering John King's public mistake.

Don (Thomas Sadoski) and Jim give an in-depth presentation of what went wrong. Because everyone thought social media was going to solve the case, news outlets followed a tweet that led them to the wrong people. With no fact-checking, Twitter is to blame for the CNN fallout.

Because Elliot is allergic to walnuts, his allergies kick up and swell his tongue. With Elliot unable to speak, it's up to Maggie to speak in front of the camera. After Maggie knocked it out of the park. both Mac and Jim let out a sigh of relief.

While Sloan (Munn) is investigating Reese (Chris Messina)'s claims that the company is losing money, Neal (Dev Patel) reveals to the news team that he has been receiving messages from an outside source, who wants to give him important documents. Everyone laughs off his paranoid, conspiracy theory, except for Will. Showing signs of good faith, Will gives Neal an opportunity to follow his story all the way through.

Following the directions given to him, Neal sneaks his way into the bathroom stall and finds the flash drive. With his new computer, Neal downloads documents after documents of classified files. After reading everything, Neal tells Charlie and Will they are facing another war crime story.

After Neal retells his story and puts in the missing parts, Will realizes Neal told his contact to bring him in more government classified files. Neal and his shadowy contact just committed a major crime.

Sloan makes an unexpected important discovery. Reese is actually in the midst of a hostile takeover. Because the show is losing profits and ratings, Reese has no choice but to cancel the ACN show and not renew the contracts.

Before he goes back on the air, Will promises Reese no one will abandon him in his hour of need. He also has to call in a lawyer for Neal. He tells Mac that this is just the end of the of the first act.

The Newsroom returns for its final season. Readers, what did you think of Boston?
