Ray Rice To Sit With Matt Lauer For ‘Today’ Show Interview Following Janay Rice Elevator Knockout: Will The NBC Journalist Grill The Former Ravens Player? [VIDEO]

Following the swing seen around the world, it seems safe to say the world has turned completely against the NFL's Ray Rice. Well, now the football player has agreed to break his silence and sit down with Matt Lauer of NBC's Today Show for a one-on-one interview – the first since the release of the horrifying video featuring Rice knocking his wife, Janay Rice, out in an elevator in Atlantic City.

The news comes from TMZ Sports. According to them, the once-upon-a-time respected player has been booked for an "exclusive sit-down" with the famed NBC journalist. Whether or not Rice's wife will be present in the interview is not known at this time. If she is, you can bet Lauer will have some questions for her!

While there's no solidified date, the gossip site claims that the interview will take place sometime between today and Nov. 26.

As Today has grown to become somewhat comical in a number of areas – from the lengthy broadcast to its often-fluffy topics – it seems the show's producers are now prepping themselves for some hardcore news. And we can only hope that Lauer's interview with Rice will be nothing short of hardcore, as well. Of course, given some of his past (including that one with Tom Cruise), chances are pretty good!

The news of Rice's appearance on Today comes at an interesting time, considering rapper Eminem has been taking heat all day regarding a lyric in his freestyle, "Shady Cxvpher" – where he's raps, "But I may fight for gay rights, especially if they dyke/ is more of a knockout than Janay Rice/Play nice? Bitch I'll punch Lana Del Rey right in the face twice, like Ray Rice in broad daylight in the plain sight of the elevator surveillance/'Til her head is banging on the railing, then celebrate with the Ravens."
