As Parenthood nears the end of its sixth and final season there are a lot of questions that need to be answered. The cast is opening up about the upcoming "big death" this season, while actor Sam Jaeger (who plays Joel Graham) reveals what is happening with Joel and Julia Braverman-Graham's (played by Erika Christensen) relationship on the show.

Sam explained that even though he doesn't exactly what is going to happen with his character in the final episodes, he is holding out hope for a happily ever after. "At the end of the last episode it was the first time that it was extremely clear where Joel stood, and so I think that has to open the door!" Sam told E! Online during a Parenthood set visit this week.

"There are six episodes left to air and we haven't even shot all of them, and you know how much can happen in every single episode, so there's a lot left to go through before we get to the end of this thing, so I don't know. But we have our fingers crossed."

When it comes down to the Joel and Julia storyline, about their divorce, executive producer Jason Katims said a happy ending could still happen. "There's a handful of episodes left so we're not ruling out a happy ending at all. We're definitely going to come to a conclusion with that story," Jason told the publication.

He explained that they chose to switch up the dynamic between Joel and Julia in order to add a different side to their otherwise happy relationship. "Julia and Joel always seemed to kiss and make up at the end of every episode and I wanted to explore something different with them and challenge the actors," he explained.

As for the most talked about storyline, which revolves around someone in the cast dying at some point this season, the cast is not one hundred percent on board. "We've had a lot of dialogue about this behind the scenes and there have been some contentiousness," Craig T. Nelson told E! News.

"We don't exactly know what it is but the lead up to whatever it is has been so emotional for both of us that it's not really good for you. It's not healthy, health wise, at our age. Or mine, I should say. I don't know. I'm not the best to talk to about it. I don't like it. I don't like it."

In happy news, this week's episode will find Max (played by Max Burkholder) wanting to take the next step in his dating relationship. According to Entertainment Weekly, Kristina Braverman (played by Monica Potter) will be left to help her son navigate the hardships of dating as he pushes for and "out-of -the-house date" with Dylan.

Tune in on Thursdays to see what happens next on Parenthood.
