Comedy legend Weird Al is now portraying a magical salesperson in a new holiday ad for Radio Shack... and it's kinda great. It's an ad that's bound to get stuck in your head, but luckily Weird Al is so charming and so perfectly suited as a geeky, bonkers salesperson that you might just find yourself thinking about quadcopters, or at least what to get your cousin Bob who's 43 and still lives with his parents this holiday season.

It's a move that has amused some, but also left others scratching their heads (mainly about Radio Shack's relevance).

Weird Al has had a huge 2014, with his album Mandatory Fun marking his first ever US number one album, and the curly-haired parodist even prompted some Super Bowl halftime show buzz. Dissolve also just released an oral history of his movie, UHF

He's best known for his parodies of Michael Jackson ("Eat It"), Nirvana ("Smells Likes Nirvana") and Robin Thicke ("Word Crimes").

Cnet figured it was a good move, saying "Considering his latest album had songs about everything from taking selfies at funerals to hiding from aliens and the Illuminati, it makes sense that Weird Al would be the guy to ask which RC toy or robot to buy for the holidays."

In an interview with USA Today, Radio Shack's Chief marketing officer Jennifer Warren explained that the ad comes at important time for the company. "Every day is important when you're in the middle of a turnaround," she said. "It's a marathon. We are making progress."

As for Weird Al's involvement, Warren told USA Today that the comedian was the perfect ambassador for the tech chain. "He's tech-savvy, smart and a social media guru," she said. "I don't think there could be a better fit for our brand right now."

The Weird Al Radio Shack ad will hit cinemas this Friday and TV from Dec. 5.
