2016 'Uncharted' Movie Casts Chris Pratt? 'Hurt Locker' & 'Zero Dark Thirty' Writer Penning Video Game Franchise Adaptation

New reports this week are suggesting that the long awaited movie adaptation of the popular video game franchise from Naughty Dog, Uncharted, was almost fast tracked to a filming date with the casting of a leading man to take on the role of Nathan Drake. The latest actor offered the role was Guardians of the Galaxy hunk Chris Pratt. So did he accept the role? We can confirm that Zero Dark Thirty and The Hurt Locker writer Mark Boal is the new scribe for the project, though!

Uncharted has already seen many people take a look at and work on the adaptation's script (like Thomas Dean Donnelly, Joshua Oppenheimer, David Guggenheim, and Cormac and Marianne Wibberley) originally written by director David O. Russell. The American Hustle director left the project, taking attached star Mark Wahlberg with him, leaving us in a lurch of sorts. Will this movie ever get made?

Well, Seth Gordon is our new director and a release date for June 10, 2016 has been set, so all we need now is an actor! So did Pratt except the role?

Unfortunately, he turned down the role, according to a new article from The Hollywood Reporter, which also broke the (positive) news about writer Boal.

So while we don't have a star yet, we do have one of the best Oscar winning writers in Hollywood. Plus, reports say that Boal was attracted to the project not because it's similar to his other films, but because he's a fan of the game!
