Director Tony Scott's sudden death by jumping over the Vincent Thomas bridge in San Pedro shocked the nation.  Investigators have been searching for the reason of his death.  Donna Scott reportedly said that the rumors are "absolutely false".

An unnamed source revealed to the New York Post that Scott had inoperable brain cancer on Monday (August 20).

However, new reports came out on Tuesday (August 21) stating that Scott's family disputed the rumors of any terminal illness.

"The family told us it is incorrect that he has inoperable brain cancer," Craig Harvey from the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office revealed to the Los Angeles Times.

Deputy Chief Coronoer Ed Winter revealed to CNN, "I did talk to the family yesterday late afternoon, and according to his wife, he did not have brain cancer as reported, and (she) does not know who told ABC that information, which is absolutely false"

Scott had left two notes, one with contact information of his family and friends, and the other note with a message for them.

The contents of the note to his family has not been released yet.

Winter said of the autopsy, "Our examination is complete and we will be working towards a comprehensive document once we close the case."  The results will be made public several weeks later, reported CNN.

Hollywood mourns over the beloved British director who have filmed classic hits including "Top Gun" featuring Tom Cruise.  It is said that Scott was preparing for a sequel to the movie and that Cruise has already been preparing for the role.

Cruise released a statement, "Tony was my dear friend and I will really miss him. He was a creative visionary whose mark on film is immeasurable. My deepest sorrow and thoughts are with his family at this time."
