The death of Bruce Wayne's parents when he was just a boy is a crucial component to any depiction of the Batman character. The story has been told and retold numerous times through comics, television series and films, but it appears Zack Snyder could give us yet another interpretation in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice.

New photos from the set show the marquee of a movie theater with "The Mark of Z" on it. In the comics, Thomas and Martha Wayne take their son Bruce to go see The Mark of Zorro, as Zorro was Bruce's hero as a child. When they leave the theater, a thug stops the family and kills both of Bruce's parents.

You can view one photo at the top of the page, and Comic Book Movie has collected the rest here.

This may not be the only death or funeral scene we see in Dawn of Justice. Comic Book Movie reported an extra on the film spoke to SupermanHomepage and revealed details of a possible funeral scene. Beware of SPOILERS AHEAD.

"'The second scene I was involved in was situated in a half-stadium style set surrounded by tall green screen walls. Henry Cavill was on set dressed as Clark Kent, but did not film with us that day.' He continues, 'This scene was a parade scene to take place in 'Washington D.C.,' obviously the CG effects for the surroundings would be placed in post production.' Now for the major spoiler of this report... 'The parade, we were told, was the funeral for the President of the United States. I wish I had more pics but our phones were checked in before filming and we didn't get them back until the end of the day.'"

What do you think of the photos and video? Let us know in the comments section.

Boy and presumably his parents leaving a Gotham City theater. Hmmm...
