Queen Elizabeth II is coming to a computer or television near you... well, sort of. Netflix has officially ordered The Crown, which is new royal drama about the queen.

Netflix announced on Wednesday that they were ordering a 10-episode series of The Crown, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The series was created by Peter Morgan and Stephen Daldry and is inspired by The Audience. The Audience is a play that centers on Queen Elizabeth II and her meetings with the prime ministers from 1952 to present day.

"The Crown is storytelling that lives somewhere between television and cinema from Britain's foremost chroniclers of modern politics, class and society," Cindy Holland, the VP of original content at Netflix, said via THR. "We are enormously proud to be the exclusive home of a series from Peter Morgan and Stephen Daldry that promises to fascinate and entertain audiences around the world."

Although the cast has not been announced, Deadline reported that Claire Foy, a British actress, has been offered the role of Queen Elizabeth II in the series. "It is believed that at least three actresses will play the Queen across her six-decade rule. There is no confirmation yet on whether Helen Mirren will return to the role that won her an Academy Award in The Queen, directed by Stephen Frears and also written by Morgan."

The new series will premiere on Netflix in 2016 and each season will "explore the political rivalries and personal intrigues across a decade of Queen Elizabeth II's reign, exploring the delicate balance between her private world and public life," THR explained.

According to the publication, season one will start with a 25-year-old princess as she faces the prospect of becoming the leader of England. "Queen Elizabeth II has reigned throughout a period of unprecedented cultural and political change and her influence as monarch has been universal," Left Bank Pictures (responsible for The Queen) CEO Any Harries said in a statement.

"Peter is a writer at the height of his powers and Stephen Daldry is one of the most entertaining and original film directors in the world. The series will be hugely ambitious and surprising, and perfectly captures the changes and complexities of a post war world."
