Warner Bros. and DC Comics announced their movie slate for the next several years last week, and the news excited many fans. Of course, the inevitable comparisons to the Marvel Cinematic Universe arose, and now a director from that universe has offered his thoughts.

James Gunn, who directed the wildly successful Guardians of the Galaxy this year, spoke to IGN, which asked for his thoughts about WB and DC's movie plans. Gunn replied that he does not know "if it's interesting or not."

"The truth is, it's a list of titles, and if they're done well they'll be good. If they aren't, they won't be good," he said. "But I think we have a little bit more of an idea of what we're getting with Marvel. I mean, we know the actors, we know the characters -- we've seen movies with these characters. You have some idea of what's going on already. We've told a big part of the story. With DC, they haven't told the story yet."

The site also asked about the plan to bring Darkseid to the DC film universe in a Justice League movie, specifically if that would be too similar to what Marvel is doing with Thanos. "That would be pretty weird, I think," Gunn said. "That would be a strange choice."

The two villains look similar and have similar motivations and plans in the comics, but Thanos was actually influenced by Darkseid, not the other way around.

Gunn also offered some thoughts on the MCU's plans for Thanos and said he "needs to be developed more. He's just a blip in this movie. So he needs a lot more development before he can take on the entire, you know, Marvel Earth Universe at least. So we'll see what happens."
