HBO has announced the series order and released a teaser trailer for the remake of the late sci-fi author Michael Crichton's cult classic, Westworld. Actress Evan Rachel Wood leads a star-studded cast with Anthony Hopkins, Ed Harris, James Marsden, Jeffry Wright, and Thandie Newton in Jonathan Nolan and J.J. Abrams' modern adaptation.

Described as a "dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin," the 1970s western/thriller centered around an amusement park and its guests. A precursor to Jurassic Park, as writer/director, Crichton imagined three worlds - the West World, Medieval World, and Roman World - inhabited by human-like androids. Rebelling against their programming, the robots run amok and start attacking the tourists.

Crichton's directorial debut also marked his stamp on comedy, as seen in the slapstick humor with leading men, Richard Benjamin and James Brolin. Based on the teaser trailers released on Vine, we can tell the series will have a mysterious ambiance. We've looking forward to what writers Lisa Joy and Nolan will bring to the television screen.

Check out the first teaser here:

Westworld brings together Nolan along with Abrams and Bryan Burk, responsible for the action-packed drama, Person of Interest. The Dark Knight Rises scribe will also helm directing duties for the pilot. Nolan previously directed the episode, Reverence, which introduced Sameen Shaw to viewers and turned Sarah Shahi into an action star. We can't wait to see what Wood and Newton will bring to the screen in Westworld.

The cast has joined in on their social media accounts to promote their upcoming series.

The True Blood starlet adds, #WestWorld has officially been picked up! Time to get @HBO guys! So excited 2 be a part of such an incredible show. You guys are in for it."

The Crash starlet writes on her Twitter feed, "Just got the BEST news - Woohoo!"

Before audiences see him in the blockbuster The Hunger Games: Mockingly Part 1, Wright tweets, "Wanna come play in #Westworld?"

Check out the second teaser here:

Miranda Otto, Rodrigo Santoro, Shannon Woodward, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, Angela Sarafyan, and Simon Quarterman fill out the rest of the cast.

Westworld will premiere on HBO in 2015. Readers, are you excited to se this sci-fi/western reboot?
