On the heels of country singer Ty Herndon's shocking announcement that he is gay, another country singer, Billy Gilman, announced he too is gay causing shockwaves throughout the country music establishment.

In a five and a half minute YouTube video titled "My Story," the singer spoke about wanting to tell his story his own way after being photographed with his boyfriend.

"It was in that moment that I knew that I'd rather it be from me than you reading it somewhere else and probably filled with 'not truth,'" he said.

He also talked about how he has been blackballed from country music and major record labels due to rumors about his sexuality.

"I threw a showcase in Nashville, and no major label showed," he said. "If people don't like your music, that's one thing, but after having sold over five million records, having a wonderful life in the music industry, I knew something was wrong when no major label wanted to sit down and have a meeting and listen to the new stuff."

"It's difficult for me to make this video, not because I'm ashamed of being a gay male artist, or a gay artist or a gay person," he continued. "But it's pretty silly to know that I'm ashamed of doing this knowing that I'm in a genre and an industry that's ashamed of me for being me."

Billy, who came to fame as the youngest artist to ever have a Billboard top 40 hit with the song "One Voice," says Ty coming out in interviews with People and Entertainment Tonight made it easier for him to reveal he is gay.

"A fellow country artist and friend made it easier for me to make this video," he said. "I wanted my fans who have stuck by me for many, many years to know."

He even mentioned country superstars Keith Urban, Vince Gill, and LeAnn Rimes as those that have supported his decision to disclose his true self.
