Season 10 of Supernatural continued on Tuesday night with its newest episode, "Ask Jeeves." After last week's milestone 200th episode, Sam and Dean Winchester got back to business with a standard Monster of the Week case.

The episode got rolling when Dean uncovered a voicemail from someone who informed him that Bobby was part of a dead woman's will, so he and Sam took a drive to Connecticut to see if they, his de facto next of kin, could reap the rewards. But when they got there, they found perhaps the scariest monster they have encountered in 10 seasons of the show: WASPs.

There really wasn't much to this Monster of the Week case. At first the Winchesters thought they were dealing with a vengeful spirit, then two vengeful spirits, and then they learned it was a shapeshifter who held a grudge against Bobby for killing her father and forcing her mother to lock her up for good. Of course, Sam and Dean eventually put her down and put a bow on the case.

It was only natural that the 201st episode of Supernatural would be a letdown from the 200th. You can't capture that magic twice in a row, so odds are good that anything the show produced this week would be inferior to the love letter to the fans we received last Tuesday. This episode had its moments, but it was ultimately a waste of time.

"Ask Jeeves" tried to connect loosely to the season-long plot by having Dean angrily plug the shapeshifter full of silver bullets after it was already dead. Sam, understandably, asked his brother in the Impala what that was all about, and Dean tried to play it off. When Sam pressed him, he acted like a bratty teenager whose mother was nagging him and cranked up the radio.

We can assume the mythology for this season will focus at least partly on Dean's time as a demon and the effect of the Mark of Cain on him. He's clearly not fine, and things are only going to get worse because this is Supernatural, after all. But the last three episodes, even the wonderful 200th one, did almost nothing to advance that plot. Once Dean was cured, it was back to business as usual. Hopefully the show picks up the pace before the winter break.

Notes from Dad's Journal:

- It was hilarious to watch the Winchesters interact with the WASPs, particularly Jared Padalecki, who portrays awkward Sam so well. The middle-aged housewives' persistent attempts to seduce him were as uncomfortable as you would imagine, but Padalecki got to play Sam as a nervous wreck in those moments and it was great.

- What was not great, however, was the cast surrounding him and Jensen Ackles in this episode. The CW gets a lot of flak for the quality of its actors, but you could truly see the difference between the stars and the guest stars in this episode. Ackles and Padalecki are so good at playing Dean and Sam, while these guest stars were quite painful to watch at times. Granted, they've been doing it for 10 seasons, so it's not really a fair comparison, but still.

- Dean drinking that tiny cup of coffee was great.

- Supernatural is usually pretty good with its references, but Ask Jeeves, really? Is it 1998?

- I miss Bobby.
