With the release of his newest film Foxcatcher, which was dropped this past Friday, Nov. 14, actor Mark Ruffalo sat down with ABC News' George Stephanopoulos to chat up working on the film as well as what it was like being with Steve Carell and Channing Tatum. In the film, Ruffalo played Olympic gold medal wrestler Dave Schultz, brother to Mark Schultz (Tatum), as they work alongside the ever so wealthy John du Pont (Carell).

On the film, Ruffalo equates it to a Greek tragedy, saying it has a "deep, complex human struggle in it" that also finds itself holding elements of family and ambition in there as well. And despite the gold medals he and his brother hold (in the film), the story unfold honestly and tells their struggle to "maintain a level of excellence," as the actor says.

With Carell, who has been getting an exciting amount of Oscar-buzz for his role in the film, Ruffalo says he felt "repulsed" when he first saw the actor – who has been famed for playing comedic roles... including Michael Scott from NBC's The Office. "It's a stunning transformation," he says, adding, "It's a career-making performance."

Check out the interview between Ruffalo and Stephanopoulos below:

"What these guys did is on such a different level," the actor said of his preparation for the film, saying that it was also the hardest thing he's ever had to prep for. "Channing and I started working out seven months before we even shot a single frame of wrestling. I had to put on 25 pounds. It was really challenging for both of us, but we really bonded during the course of it."

Foxcatcher is in theaters now. Watch the trailer here:

So, readers, what do you think of the film?
