With two episodes left before the Sons of Anarchy series finale, creator/showrunner Kurt Sutter is already moving forward on his next project. Actress Katey Sagal (the infamous Gemma Teller) now joins the cast for Sutter's new FX drama, The Bastard Executioner.

Deadline reports the Married with Children actress confirmed the casting announcement during a SOA conference call with reporters. Though we have to wait to hear what her upcoming role will be, the Futurama voice actress assures she would "definitely be involved" in the period piece. Paris Barclay has also signed up to executive produce and direct the pilot.

In the plot synopsis for Bastard Executioner, the period drama follows a warrior knight in King Edward III's court. The loyal knight has been broken by the ravages of war and vows to leave the way of the sword. When violence strikes again, the retired knight is forced to pick up his sword again.

Sutter moving from a motorcycle gang to a medieval drama shouldn't be much a surprise to SAMCRO fans. Heavily influence by the writings of William Shakespeare, Sons of Anarchy at first centered on Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam)'s getting revenge against his uncle, who killed his father. Visited by Tara's ghost, Gemma (Sagal) confessed to the murder, never realizing her grandson was listening right in.

In our recent recap, Gemma had her share of sad goodbyes with her grandson, Abel, and her lover, Nero (Jimmy Smits). After Juice revealed Gemma was really Tara's killer, Jax desperately tried to find her, and even got himself involved in a high speed chase with the police. Trying to save his soul, Nero warned Jax if he did murder his own mother; that's something he can never recover from.
