Derek Hough is preparing for the Dancing With the Stars finale on Monday by challenging himself to create a unique freestyle routine. The DWTS pro is talking about the season 19 finale and how he is getting ready for the show with his partner Bethany Mota.

"With the freestyle, I feel like I've covered a lot of bases before and it's like what's next? It's a sense of trying not to do something over and over again.

With Bethany, I'm trying to figure out what the right thing for her is. What are her strengths and what's going to make her shine?" Derek explained in his TV Guide blog.

"So I've settled on telling her story. It starts off slowly and lyrically with beautiful shapes and beautiful lines. There will be other dancers as the dance builds to show her Motavators behind her. It signifies her life and strength."

He continued saying, "She's created her own brand and her own career – her own everything, really. When I look back at the season, I look back at the moments that showcase how tough and fierce she is, like the Argentine tango and paso doble. It's strong and it's a big song, like Inception. It'll be like Hans Zimmer is there!"

In addition to their freestyle routine, this week Derek and Bethany will be performing one of their previous routines that the judges have picked. The judges have chose their jive from early on in the competition, so it should be interesting to see how far they have come as a couple with this routine. As for their competitors, Derek noted that the competition is stiff for the finale.

"I think we have a really strong, competitive final four. Alfonso versus the girls!" Derek joked. Speaking of Alfonso the 29-year-old dancer opened up about The Fresh Prince of Bel Air alum's injuries saying, "I think Alfonso's doing better. I'm very familiar with that type of injury. That's kind of what I had two weeks ago. It's scary."

He continued explaining, "I was talking to him about it. He's wanted to do the show for so long and he said, 'There's no way I'm gonna let this injury stop me.' I definitely appreciate that about him. He has someone working on him every single day, so I think he'll be OK."

Who do you think will take home season 19's mirror ball trophy? Tune in on Monday to see the final four teams battle for the championship.
