With the Boston Red Sox reportedly on the verge of signing Hanley Ramirez and Pablo Sandoval, adding two superstar slugging names to their roster, will the Sox now look to trade one of their surplus hitters? Could home run derby champ and Lamborghini-lover Yoenis Cespedes already be on his way out of Beantown?

Fox Sports and CBSsports.com are reporting that Ramirez is on his way to Boston today "to finalize a contract with the Red Sox, according to a major-league source", says Fox's Ken Rosenthal, adding that the contract the Sox will be offering to the Los Angeles Dodgers short stop according to sources "will be in the range of five years, $90 million". Rosenthal points out that Ramirez had earlier rejected a $15.3 million qualifying offer from theDodgers, making him a free agent.

As for what that means for the incumbent Red Sox infielders, says ESPN Boston's Gordon Edes, "Ramirez's defense at shortstop has suffered in recent years, which makes it highly implausible the Sox would give up on 22-year-old shortstop Xander Bogaerts."

CBSsports.com's Jon Heyman also reports that the Red Sox have secured triple Word Series-champ and switch-hitting San Francisco Giant third baseman Pablo Sandoval. Says Heyman, "Sandoval has agreed to to a Red Sox deal," adding that the he "will receive close to $100 million for five years".

With the pair of reported signings, it leaves Boston with a glut of talented players and prospects - including Yoenis Cespedes, Rusney Castillo, Mookie Betts, Shane Victorino, Allen Craig, Jackie Bradley Jr., Brock Holt and Daniel Nava - already jockeying for outfield playing time.

ESPN says that the odd man out is likely Cespedes, pointing out that the outfielder and two-time home run derby champion acquired by the Red Sox in a mid-season trade with the Oakland As "is a year from free agency," leaving him as "a leading candidate" to be traded.

The Red Sox biggest need, though, is pitching, so with these two potential signings, it would appear that Red Sox GM Ben Cherrington would be looking to move one or more of his stockpile of hitting and outfield talent.

Who do you think the Red Sox should be targeting? Could Jon Lester head back to Boston? Should they look at the Phillies Cole Hamel? Or are there other names out there you'd prefer to see suit up for the Sox next year as they look to rebound from having the worst record in baseball?
