Keith Urban American Idol: Country Star Signs Deal

Keith Urban joins American Idol as the country judge to take the seat next to Mariah Carey according to reports on Examiner.com.  Brad Paisley was offered the hot seat for approximately $8 million however it was rumored that he wanted a higher salary.  Urban who was reportedly hesitant at first later signed for an amount between $3 - $4 million.  

Urban has experience as a judge on The Voice in Australia and is expected to lead a large country fan base to watch American Idol.  Urban is reportedly not joining the panel for the money.

The American Idol buzz has been strong this week with Nicki Minaj rumored to be signing for $8.5 million.  It has not been officially confirmed yet.  

It's also unknown whether Randy Jackson, the only original judge since the show inaugurated more than a decade ago, will remain on the show as a judge.
