Just last week, we learned that Django Unchained star Christoph Waltz was cast in the next James Bond film from director Sam Mendes. Without a title, the movie is simple known as "Bond 24," and there are is plenty of mystery around the project, but a new rumor suggests that Waltz could be portraying one of the most iconic villains of the franchise's history: Ernst Stavro Blofeld. Daniel Craig is set to star as 007 once again, with Dave Bautista, Lea Seydoux, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw and more joining him. (SPOILERS to follow)

According to Coming Soon, MGM and Bond writer/producer Kevin McClory settled about a year ago on the rights to Blofeld and his organization, SPECTRE. This news led to plenty of rumors about the character showing up in the Skyfall follow-up; thus, this week's rumor about Waltz.

We previously reported on Waltz's casting, with a source hesitant to suggest that he was portraying a villain in the movie. That has all gone out the window thanks to a new report from Daily Mail. This report doesn't quote any sources, but explains that this character is most likely going to be played by Waltz.

According to Slash Film, we should still pay attention to this rumor. Apparently, a press conference will take place in early December about the project. We'll most likely learn the title and possibly the truth about Blofeld. We should definitely pay attention to this press conference for many answers and more concrete details!

Blofeld was "killed off" in For Your Eyes Only in 1981 and has since been out of Bond films due to the above-mentioned rights dispute with Mcclory. What do you think of this casting rumor? Let us know in the comments section below!
