We'd all probably agree that actor Johnny Depp has made some interesting career choices throughout his days in Hollywood –– most of which have been well worth it. Of course, not all are wins. And while the actor might put on that cool, non-caring conduct on the outside, it seems Depp cares more about his films than we initially suspected. Which is a good thing, of course. However, today, he's apparently hit that point in life where he just doesn't "give a f*ck," which might explain that recent drunken speech at the 2014 Hollywood Film Awards. Whether or not that sits true in his newest films Into The Woods and Mortdecai we're not too sure, but we can definitely assume he cared about those Pirates of the Caribbean films. And yes, he probably cares about fiance Amber Heard. After all, who wouldn't?

In a new interview with Details magazine, the actor talks up the road he's taken to not care so much about his career, something that was easier said than done for the actor. His inspiration? The late Marlon Brando. The two collaborated on 1994's Don Juan DeMarco and quickly became friends, with the legendary actor helping the young artist find his way. It's because of Brando that Depp was able to hit the point where he just didn't care so much.

"First, I reached a point where I cared so much and was so diligent in terms of approaching work," he told the mag. "Then, you get to where you care so f*cking much that it gets goddamn beleaguering, you know?

Eventually, however, the Pirates of the Caribbean actor notes that he's now managed to "care enough to not give a f*ck, because not giving a f*ck, that's the total liberation. Being game to try anything."

Depp also admitted that working in Hollywood, and specifically for studios, can make you feel like "being a dog at the track."

"They expect you to live up to some race you happened to be in and won accidentally," he said. "From that first second, you're nothing more than a commodity. They have expectations of another Pirates."

Of course, he doesn't deny the excitement that comes from large films such as the Pirates franchise.

Into The Woods will be released in theaters this Christmas!
