As the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles continue to face off against demons and aliens, a new team of mutated animals take center stage. Appearing in their own 4-issue miniseries, Old Hob, Slash, Mondo Gecko, Herman the Hermit Crab, and Pigeon Pete star in writer Paul Allor and artist artist Andy Kuhn's TMNT: Mutanimals.

In the comics, The Mighty Mutanimals originally consisted of Dreadmon, Mondo Gecko, Slash, Jagwar, Wingnut and Screwloose. Whether it was due to lack of sales or to make these characters more interesting, creator Ryan Brown thought The Mutanimals could have a longer lasting impact if they were killed off. After their deaths, the Turtles had to face the consequences of their allies being dead.

In the latest reboot, when someone close to the Mutanimals goes missing, the team is suddenly put to the test. Teamwork doesn't really come easy for these outsiders, which is why they'll be butting heads most of the time. Whether they like it or not, the group will have to find a way to work together to take down The Null Group.

After working on Turtles In Time miniseries, Allor takes a step further with the Mutanimals introduction, "It's very exciting to see them get their own mini-series, and an absolute honor to be the guy writing it, especially since it means working again with artist Andy Kuhn. Every TMNT tie-in and mini has offered the readers something new and awesome, and we hope to continue that streak on TMNT: Mutanimals."

Because no one every stays dead in comics, the Mutanimals get a second chance at life with this new adventure that ties in directly with the ongoing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series. With the summer blockbuster arriving on DVD and Blu-Ray, and the animated program a hit on Nickelodeon, the Turtles continue to stay in the mainstream.

Khan adds, "I'm super-stoked to be a part of the team that's bringing The Mutanimals back. This year, my Christmas is four months long!"

TMNT: The Mutanimals will hit stores in February 2014. Readers, are you excited to see the Mighty Mutanimals back?
