Girl Scout Cookies Are Now Available To Order Online!

Don't have any Girl Scouts in your neighborhood? Do you always want Girl Scout cookies, but you never want to go to the store? Good news, Girl Scout cookies are going to be available online starting in January 2015!

Today Girl Scouts of the USA (or GSUSA) announced that they would be launching their first ever, online sales program called the Digital Cookie starting next month.

The new campaign will include the majority of the 112 nationwide councils will be participating in the new efforts with online sales. In order to sell online, each troop or individual will either create their own website or use a mobile app to sell and run the credit cards throughout the cookie selling season.

"The current cookie program is designed to teach girls business skills such as decision making and money management (GSUSA says that more than two-thirds of the female CEOs on the Fortune 500 once peddled the popular treats)," People reported.

"CEO Anna Maria Chávez says that the expansion into digital will continue to help build skills that translate to the workplace. A customer buying online 'could be helping to prepare the next female leader of a global tech giant,'" the CEO said in a statement via People.

According to the organization, the Girl Scout's cookie sales bring in around $800 million dollars a year and the new online format will hopefully bring even more sales to the organization.

"For almost a century, the Girl Scout Cookie Program has been teaching girls to be leaders in the world of business and finance, and we intend to ensure that legacy continues in the digital age," said Chávez in the statement.

"Digital Cookie is a game-changer for Girl Scouts, and a quantum leap forward in the evolution of the cookie program, coupling traditional sales activities with an online sales experience that teaches skills like online marketing and ecommerce, all in a digital space that puts an emphasis on learning, fun, and safety."
