MStars News has learned that Bill Cosby has decided to resign from Temple University after rape allegations have been making headlines for weeks now.

According to NPR, Cosby stepped down from his position on the board of trustees, as he released a short statement wishing the best to the university, and it's students.

The university's two statements said:

Statement of William H. Cosby Jr:

"I have always been proud of my association with Temple University. I have always wanted to do what would be in the best interests of the university and its students. As a result, I have tendered my resignation from the Temple University Board of Trustees."

Temple University response:

"The Board of Trustees accepts Dr. Cosby's resignation from the board and thanks him for his service to the university."

According to Yahoo, Cosby decided to resign because, "He didn't want his personal issue to detract from his service to Temple," Patrick O'Connor, chairman of the Philadelphia university's board of trustees, revealed Monday. "He was a great trustee. I thanked him for his service."

Cosby's history with Temple goes way back. He first attended the college in the 1960s and later decided to drop out to go for his dreams of becoming a comedian.

America's favorite TV dad later went back to Temple and graduated in 1971.

MStars News previosly reported that Cosby has been accused of raping a number of women, including Andrea Constand, Tamara Green, Joan Tarshis, Linda Joy Traitz, and Janice Dickinson.

There has also been hoax stories out there that have gotten Cosby's TV kids and grandkids involved. Rumors surfaced that Cosby molested and raped Raven-Symoné, and accused Lisa Bonet of speaking out about the controversial topic, but both were refuted by the actresses.

Though Cosby has never been charged, many will probably wonder why he decided to resign if he knows deep down he has not comitted any such actions as these women claim. MStars News wants to know, do you believe Cosby is guilty or do you think he has been defamed?
