This week's episode of The Goldbergs is all about the hoverboard. "I Rode a Hoverboard!" focuses on a series of lies, food and the Back to the Future creation of the hoverboard.

The episode begins with Adam dancing to George Michael and not being ashamed at all of his hilarious dance moves. He reveals that although he tells his best friend Emmy everything, he cannot tell her that he loves George Michael and that he copies his killer butt-shaking moves while wearing a leather jacket and sunglasses.

While he was filming his own dance video, he falls into his bookshelf and breaks his arm! As he is telling his sister about the story, she tells him he cannot tell the truth about how he broke it. He must lie! So what lie does Adam come up with? He says he broke it riding a hoverboard obviously.

Meanwhile, Beverly is being underappreciated while cooking dinner for her family as usual. After they thank her for the meal (which she lives for) Murray suggest that she takes the night off and they all go out for Chinese, which is new thing in the 80s. Beverly is not happy but she goes along with it, unfortunately the family falls in love with the Chinese food and she is heartbroken.

While they are at dinner Adam compliments Dave Kim's mom (who owns the restaurant) and Beverly loses it. She is now determined to make her own Chinese food to keep her family at home with her every night. Sadly, it doesn't work and the family starts eating out at the Chinese place every night.

At school Adam starts to tell everyone that he broke his arm while hoverboarding and when they start to question his story he swears on his friendship with Emmy. Emmy in return believes him and fully supports him because you can't lie in a friendship swear.

Back at home Adam tells Erica and Pops what happened at school and they both tell him that he has to keep up the lie. Erica decides to help him perfect his lie by making him say it over and over again. He gets so used to saying it that he accidentally blurts it out in science class, which doesn't end well.

His science teacher tells him that it is physically impossible to fly on a hoverboard and when Emmy defends him she is sent to the principal's office. In order to save himself Adam reveals that he has it all on tape and the teacher agrees that if he provides the tape then everyone in the class will receive an A.

In a switch to Beverly she goes to the Chinese restaurant and asks for her family to get banned from it in order to keep them from always coming there instead of eating at home. Dave Kim's mom refuses saying that they already have a meal named after Big Tasty (aka Barry). Now that Beverly knows she is in a food battle she starts to play dirty. She invites Dave Kim over and makes him fall in love with her food instead of his mothers. Dave Kim's mom eventually gives into Beverly's demands and bans her family from their restaurant.

When Murray discovers what Beverly has done he is pissed. As Beverly tries to get them back to eating at home Murray fights her every step of the way. Beverly finally tells them that cooking for the family is all she has left to do that makes her feel needed. The boys feel terrible and apologize for their actions and Beverly loves it.

Back to Adam, he is trying to create a movie with him pretend flying on a hoverboard with Erica. While he is making the film his best friend walks up and realizes that he has been lying to her the whole time. She is really hurt and storms off.

The next day at school, Adam tells the science class that he lied and then shows them the video of him dancing to George Michael, which is embarrassing. After class he tries to make up with Emmy but she still isn't listening. After calling her family, she eventually forgives him and they hangout in his tree house as usual.

The episode ends with the family's new tradition of eating Chinese food out all together every Friday night. In the final moments Beverly is making dinner yet again and Erica is singing to George Michael as Dave Kim watches the whole thing!
