Marvel's 'Jessica Jones' PHOTOS: Krysten Ritter Beats Alexandra Daddario, Teresa Palmer For Netflix Lead! [WATCH]

With audiences early anticipating Marvel's Daredevil after its NYCC debut, the search continued for the leading role in the next Netflix series. After testing with actresses Alexandra Daddario, Teresa Palmer, Marin Ireland, actress Krysten Ritter has been cast as the super heroine in Marvel's Jessica Jones.

As we previously mentioned, Jessica Jones made her debut in the Alias series by Brian Michael Bendis (Miles Morales: Ultimate Spider-Man) and Michael Gaydos (The Pulse). Because she suffers from post-traumatic stress, Jones gives up her superhero and becomes the owner at Alias Private Investigations.

Marvel was testing a lineup of actresses for the lead in the comic book/superhero drama. Each of the leading ladies significantly fell within the 25-33 age range. Twilight screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg has been tapped to penn the Netflix show.

And now, Marvel announces that the Breaking Bad actress will star in the all-new 13-episode series. Jeph Loeb, Executive Producer and Marvel's Head of Television states, "Krysten Ritter has the type of range, spanning the comic to the tragic, that makes for the stuff of the best Marvel heroes. As Jessica Jones, Krysten will bring one of the most beloved new characters of the past decade to life in a way we know will delight her longtime fans and introduce her to many more."

The Veronica Mars actress went to her official Instagram account to share the casting news and writes, "Guys!! I am so completely over the moon & grateful for this opportunity to bring Jessica Jones to life! Thank you Melissa Rosenberg, everyone at @marvel @netflix and all of my fans for your support! Wooo! Dream big kiddies! "

We mentioned before that Jessica Jones is part of Marvel/Netflix's list of superhero dramas. Each show will lead into The Defenders, which puts together Iron Fist, Luke Cage, Daredevil, and Jessica Jones  as one superhero team.
