With the first season of FX'The Strain out onto DVD/Blu-Ray, viewers are anxious to see what will happen in the upcoming Season 2. Based on the Dark Horse Comics adaption of visionary director Guillermo Del Toro's own vampire novels, will Eph (Corey Stoll) and Nora (Mia Maestro) face a "more gruesome and bigger" vampire attacks?

The first season follows Eph (Corey Stoll) and Nora (Mia Maestro) as they discover a deadly vampire plague spreading across New York City. As they search for a cure, an old vampire hunter (David Bradley) comes out of retirement and a rat exterminator (Kevin Durand) joins the crusade to face off an ancient evil. They must all work together to save the world from The Master.

As we previously mentioned, the Devil's Backbone filmmaker dropped a few hints about the second season, which seems to be based on book two of his The Strain trilogy,The Fall. Actor Ron Canada (West Wing) will also be joining the cast the bumbling Mayor of New York, who doesn't know how to handle the vampire epidemic.

Del Toro hinted, "We start with The Strain in November, and I'm going to be shooting a creature unit, the action unit, and I'm going to be shooting the Mexican luchador footage, the black-and-white footage that appears in the series."

Now, in an interview with IGN, the Hellboy director reveals the big changes happening, "We start seeing the first few massive attacks. We start seeing the strigoi move in bigger numbers. And we do a couple of things that are very very gruesome that I'd rather not spoil, but I think in the first episode we have a pretty harrowing scene in the first five minutes."
