The CW's Arrow will air its Season 3 midseason finale, "The Climb," tonight at 8 p.m. Eastern. This will be Episode 9 of the season, and executive producer Marc Guggenheim teases that the show will never be the same thanks to Ra's Al Ghul's actions in the hour.

Access Hollywood caught up with Guggenheim and asked him about the midseason finale. "What's really cool about Ra's coming to the fore is his presence changes the show," he replied. "Literally, the show will not be the same after Episode 9." The interviewer asks if this means more characters are going to die, and Guggenheim reiterated "that means the show will not be the same...after Episode 9."

Guggenheim also teased the Ra's character and said he falls into what the writers and producers always say about their villains, that they are "the heroes of their own story." That is, the villains think they're doing good. He previewed that Ra's gives a speech in the midseason finale in which he says he is replacing "evil with death."

The interviewer at this point notes Ra's sounds like Malcolm Merlyn. "I think there's a reason why Malcolm and Ra's have very similar points of view on things," Guggenheim replied. "And who knows? We may even see a little bit more of a connection between the two men in future episodes."

Finally, Guggenheim teased that John Barrowman will have a much larger role as Malcolm when the show returns in 2015, and he will also have a significant part in the midseason finale. We will even get to see a Malcolm-centric episode that flashes back to the beginning of his journey. "You're going to learn things about Malcolm that even Malcolm doesn't know," Guggenheim said.
