James Gunn Reveals More 'Guardians Of The Galaxy 2' Plot Details - Teases Returning And New Characters

In a new interview this week, director James Gunn promised Guardians of the Galaxy fans that the upcoming sequel to the 2014 summer blockbuster that he's working on will not be a recycled storyline. In fact, while promoting the Blu-Ray release of his hit, the director explained some more details about the upcoming film's plot, including some information about new and returning characters! (SPOILERS to follow)

When you go forward with a group of characters, that means you have to go forward" the directed told Comic Book Resources this week. "And going forward means you're understanding these characters in a new way, you're developing a new kind of story about their lives and who they are and where they're going. And if you're doing that, if you're walking forward, then you can't just repeat what you did before."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gunn used the James Bond movie franchise as an example of retelling a movie in a different way with a new title.

Gamma Squad points out that Gunn also spoke about the people of Xandar, who were saved by our leading group of heroes, and how some of these people aren't so good.

"[The] thing about Xandar, they became kind of good guys in the first movie, but they're not as good as we think they are," he said. "I think that some of the characters are probably worse than what we think they are, and other characters are better than what we think they are. It's going to be interesting to learn a little bit about that as time goes on."
