Dating, college, driving, parties... these are just some of the things that run through a typical 22-year-old's mind during the day. Same can be said for sisters Abigail and Brittany Hensel, but there's one catch - the Minnesota natives are twins, conjoined twins to be exact. And although the two share almost every important organ necessary to live (given the exception of a separate head, spine, heart, set of lungs, gallbladder, small intestine, and stomach), Abigail and Brittany still revolve their lives around every day, young women predicaments - including boyfriends, maintaining avid social lives, and even marriage.
The Hensel twins have previously starred in a number of documentary specials, specifically on the Discovery Channel and TLC. But now that the two girls are in college, TLC has debuted an original series entitled "Abby and Brittany" (which premiered on Aug. 28). The show plans on following the twins as they graduate from college (Bethel University in St. Paul), search for jobs, and travel across Europe.
The debut episode is quite fascinating - it explores Abigail and Brittany's relationship with their college roommates (they have four) and although their lives may seem odd and difficult to the typical passerby, the twins appear to be as optimistic and outgoing as ever. Although the sisters claim they both have totally different personalities, watching them as they naturally finish each other's sentences is actually a kick.
But the main question that still remains on everyone's minds now that the girls are older - how do relationships with boys work? What about sex? Promos for the series don't specifically delve into the girls' love-lives - although Abby and Brittany do claim that they both would like to one day marry and have children. Conjoined twin marriages are possible - the famous 19th century conjoined-brothers Chang and Eng Bunker both married and had children with two sisters.
Looks like viewers will have to stay tuned to see if any potential love-interests enter the lives of Abigail and Brittany. "Abby and Brittany" airs Tuesdays at 10 p.m. ET on TLC.
