We have some big news for all of you fans of Game of Thrones and other HBO shows that have been depending on HBO Go for watching new episodes, often dealing with outages and slow buffering speeds. In April of 2015, coinciding with the premiere episodes of season 5 of the beloved fantasy series, HBO's highly anticipated standalone streaming service will debut. This new subscription-based service is meant to be a direct competitor to Netflix, but with HBO shows on demand, without cable company contracts!

According to Forbes and IGN, an internal memo at HBO is calling this new project "Maui" as a code name - with that in mind, check out what the memo said right here:

"Maui was a way to get us into market faster with a less than perfect solution - the external partner will take that burden allowing us to focus on the forward looking technologies we are creating for HBO GO."

So as you can see, an external partner is coming in to take on this project. Warming Glow reports that the same company that created MLB Advanced, WWE Network and the like. This means that the difficulties of HBO Go that we've experienced could be ruled out with this new service.

According to Fortune, this is exactly why the people behind HBO Go won't get the chance to work on this new streaming service.

Ever since this new streaming service was announced, other networks started getting into this idea as well. Basically, this means that you can (eventually) subscribe to whatever network you'd like and enjoy their selections of show without having to go through a cable company. Although, you do still need the Internet.
