After meeting on the set of Danny Boyle's hit film, Slumdog Millionaire, and then dating for 6 years, actors Dev Patel (The Newsroom) and Freida Pinto (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) have called it quits. This breakup comes on the heels of marriage rumors as well as speculation of Pinto's friends setting her up on dates. Either way, one of Hollywood's cutest couples has come to an end.
"Dev and Freida have broken up," a source informed Us Magazine this week. "They have been done for a while."
Another source added: "Freida is single and happy. Friends are setting her up."
AOL points out that, while we're not sure how long these two stars have been single, Pinto's 30th birthday celebration back in Oct. didn't include Dev.
Oddly enough, this year saw a number of rumored claiming the couple was getting married. We can see now that that speculation was false.
The 24-year-old Patel isn't having a good couple of months it seems. Along with his relationship ending, he's out of work, too! His HBO drama, The Newsroom, was recently cancelled. We're sure he'll be fine, but these mounting issues sure must be hard on the young star.
After dating for six years, it seemed like this Hollywood super couple was destined to be together forever. Unfortunately, it looks like they had some problems and couldn't make it work. We hope things were amicable and that there are no hard feelings between these two.
