We recently learned that Roberto Orci, who wrote the first two Star Trek reboot films for director J.J. Abrams, will not be taking over the franchise's director's chair, and will serve as executive producer instead. So who will replace him? Well, thanks to the recent Sony e-mail hacks and leaks, we know the short list from the production company and it's pretty great. According to a number of reports, the director of Star Trek 3 could be Rupert Wyatt, Justin Lin, Morten Tyldum, Daniel Espinosa or Duncan Jones.

In case you aren't familiar with these names, we've decided to break down their respective resumes for you right here!

Wyatt is best known for directing Rise of the Planet of the Apes, which, in 2011, launched its own prequel movie franchise.

Justin Lin is directed the upcoming film Furious 7 and the first episode of True Detective, season 2 on HBO.

Tyldum directed the recently released Imitation Game, which is set to receive some Oscar buzz.

Espinosa directed Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds in Safe House.

Duncan Jones is the director of the highly anticipated computer game movie adaption, Warcraft.

According to Deadline, these five directors make up the shortlist for the project. We assume that Abrams (when he's not too busy with The Force Awakens) will have a huge say in which director will helm the project as well. A previous rumor had Edgar Wright in the running for director, but this news might have proven that wrong.

What do you think of this shortlist of directors? Do you have a preference of filmmaker for this new movie?
