Break out the eggnog because NCIS is about to go Christmas tonight. The CBS series will be focusing their holly jolly holiday around one of the shows long-running themes that has been present throughout the series known as Gibbs' Rules. The show, currently in its 12th season, will be incorporating some flashbacks that will include some past stars of the series as well as current members including Cote de Pablo, Michael Weatherly and Sasha Alexander.
According to TVLine, who spoke to Gary Glasberg, the showrunner of the series, all of the characters will be seen in flashbacks during scenes that are referring to the rules.
"We used stuff all the way back to Season 2, I think," Gary explained. "It's amazing to go back and collect all these different clips, of everybody from Sasha [Alexander, as Special Agent Kate Todd] to Cote [de Pablo as Ziva] to Michael [Weatherly, who plays DiNozzo] referring to the rules."
As for the reason the creative team decided to pay homage to Gibb's rules, Gary says he thought the Christmas episode would be a perfect time to have a little fun with this joke.
"I wanted for a while to do an episode about Gibbs' rules, and Chris Waild, one of my writers-producers, had the clever idea of incorporating it into our Christmas show." He called it "a little Christmas present for everyone."
According to International Business Times, the synopsis for the episode is as follows; "The NCIS team consults with three cyber-terrorists they imprisoned after a city-wide Internet shutdown the week before Christmas."
The holiday episode will air tonight at 8 pm on CBS.
