But Mayweather is NOT dead! Just another crazy celebrity death hoax.

According to the FAKE news website DespiertaTico.com, the renowned fighter overdosed during a drug and alcohol-infused binge. Here's the whole ridiculous spiel:

Los Angeles, CA. - This afternoon the historic and polemic fighter Floyd Mayweather Jr. [died] at the medical center Cedars Sinai of a cocaine overdose. Floyd Mayweather was found in his residence in Malibu by one of the members of the cleaning team this morning. According to the man who reported this to the authorities, Floyd was found unconscious on one of the sofas - his body was covered with large amounts of cocaine and many bottles of liquor. The employee immediately reported this to the police.

The ambulance transferred the boxer of 37 years of age to the emergency room at the Cedars Sinai medical unit, where a few hours later, he was officially pronounced dead.

The great amounts of cocaine that Floyd Mayweather is presumed to have consumed caused a heart attack, leaving severe damage to the brain. Sadly, by the time Floyd arrived to the hospital, he was already dead, as indicated by doctor Leonard Walker, the Chief in charge of the hospital.

Mayweather, who until the day of his death was considered the best boxing fighter in the world (according to The Ring Magazine), came to change how we see boxing with a new style of fighting. Very few have achieved the fame that Mayweather did - the fighter not only became an icon of boxing in the world, but also [including] the world of entertainment, achieving economically what no other sportsman had achieved.

Floyd's family is already at the hospital and hundreds of fans and news reporters are there to capture this terrible news.

Without a doubt, we say goodbye to one of the athletes that made history in the world of sports - the constant controversy that always surrounded the fighter will be soon forgotten with all the success Mayweather had.

Sound a bit too seedy? That's because it is. The entire thing is a lie.

Still, #RIPFloydMayweather began trending on Twitter:

@BorbOnCo: "RIP boxeador, FLOYD MAYWEATHER. RIP."

@hydblcn: "RIP Floyd Mayweather Jr."

@endayelizabeth: "Floyd Mayweather passed away from drug overdose... RIP @FloydMayweather."

But don't believe the shady hype, MstarsNews readers!

Several websites (including IBTimes and TheDailyPedia) recently debunked the hoax. In fact, Mayweather just appeared at a boxing event on Monday evening (December 15):

Wonder if rapper "frenemy" 50 Cent finds the ugly hoax amusing?
